Behnam Masoumi: Tombak and Percussion
Mehdi Aminian: Ney, Setar, Vocal
Improvisation lies at the heart of Persian Music and it is based on interpretation of the Dastgah (the musical modal system in Persian music). The improvisation is usually accompanied by Persian and Sufi poems of Rumi, Hafez, Saadi, Khayam etc.
The two Iranian artists Behnam Masoumi and Mehdi Aminian bring together an innovative style of playing which is based on the Persian Classical Music alongside their innovative interpretation which they have built throughout the years.
In this evening, the directions and nature of music would be defined by the internal state of the musicians, the size and energy of the audience and the conditions of the locations. Moments of this evening would explore the common Roots of Persian Dastgah music and the Arabic Maqam system. Mohamad Zatari from Syria joins the artist on Oud in this part.
